DAVID G. BUTLER is an honors graduate from Parchment High School, and he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Alma College with honors in 1976. Mr. Butler received his law degree from Capital University in December of 1979.

A litigator, with an exclusive practice focus of criminal defense, Mr. Butler has tried in excess of four hundred jury trial in the district and circuit courts of southwestern Michigan over the last twenty-eight years. He has a highly respected criminal defense practice and beyond handling his own practice, he is routinely consulted on criminal defense cases throughout the State of Michigan.

Mr. Butler is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Kalamazoo Bar Association and the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association. He is the former past president of the Kalamazoo Trial Lawyers and a former Director of the Kalamazoo County Bar Association. Additionally, Mr. Butler is a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation.

Mr. Butler has lectured at many seminars for Institute for Continuing Legal Education, affiliated with the University of Michigan, and has been a guest speaker at both the Detroit and Kalamazoo Bar Associations. Mr. Butler has also co-authored with Mr. Toweson a chapter in Michael Morgan's Defense of Drunk Driving, 4 ed., Institute for Continuing Legal Education.

Mr. Butler's community and civic involvements are substantial. He has served on the Board of Dillon Hall, a non-profit government subsidy housing complex for senior citizens. In addition, Mr. Butler is a past president and an active member of the Parchment Lions Club and has served as a coach in youth soccer, basketball and baseball leagues.

Mr. Butler and his wife, Patricia, reside in the Kalamazoo area and have two adult children.
